Plastic piece below radiator

Thanks aldive for clearing it up! Was I correct in a assuming that airflow is important for it to work most effectively? To me it looks like there would be little to no air flow if that back scoop on the radiator shroud was not there.

I have an air dam ion my truck and I have no PS problems whatsoever.

Took the few bolts out and mine dropped down. Never touched the tranny lines either.

Mine neither. I don't believe in the air flow thing. I think it's just for protecting the tranny lines.

Well mine broke its only held on by one bolt on one side and the other is still on but its hanging down more and is broke through the middle and torn on the side that still has both the bolts I was wondering if I should take it off or leave it on until I order a new one or just not bother getting a new one so my question is should I just leave it or take it off

I am keeping mine.
Ford put it there for some reason.

It helps protect the radiator and hold the tranny lines in place.

I cant imagine any reason to leave it off beyond laziness.

THIS is why I still have it.

Wow, this thread is back from the dead 9 years later. For what it's worth, I've run without it since without any issues.

I bought my truck from a lady who tore hers off in a snowbank; soon after she complained it would overheat while sitting at the drive-thru. I bought it cheap, replaced the plastic ducting from a parts truck, never had an issue with overheating.
