I have a 2001 Sport and I want to do the F150 and TT lift. I went to my local "National" off road store to see what they had in stock vs the f150/tt lift. They told me that if I do the TT lift, that it will max my front shocks and when driving the shock shart will be fully extended and not allow for any front susp downward movement. Is this true? Would adding a longer shock work to solve this issue? My concern is this is DD truck. I know the ride will be abit harsher fromt he F150 springs. I need that, cuz I carry heavy loads and the stock springs are really bad.

Thanks in advance.

this shouldn't happen because you aren't changing the travel limit. a good shock should move as far as the suspension wants to droop.

I don't see how a TT wouldn't work well w/ stock shocks but it's a good time to get some extended travel bilstiens anyway. This way in the future you'll be good to go if you decide to go higher.

The amount of lift you get from doing a TT does not warrant longer travel shocks. 3" of lift is when you need to be concerned with longer travel shocks.

If you go longer with just 1-1/2" to 2" lift a longer shock will bottom out before the suspension. Not a good thing.

They are correct if you are off roading and trying to stuff a tire up into the fender, down travel distance does not change. You do not have to change shocks to do a TT, only if you install a suspension lift will you need longer shocks. Make sure to get an alignment after, even with alignment the camber may be off without installing a camber kit.

Twisting the torsions just lets the suspension ride at a different height through the suspension travel. You dont gain any travel but it changes the amount of droop you get at ride height so if you crank them too much you get a snapping feeling over things like speedbumps and stuff. Thats the suspension drooping out on the shocks. Not that it doesnt do it on a non twisted torsion front end but its more frequent due to being in a closer location to max droop in the travel arc.
