2003 died three months ago while driving 45mph, engine just instantly died. Once stopped, key on then off fixed it, started up and drove off. After that incident 3 months ago, I reaserched some likely culprits on here and ended up putting on a new IAC and I checked the PVC line, pulled it off and it is in perfect condition. Drove explorer for 3 months fine till two days ago it did it again. Took it to ford, that can't find a thing.

Any ideas on what I can check or what I should look for? Thanks so much. My 03 has 4.0, 85k miles, at 60k I did tranny fluid change, plugs, wires, and fuel filter. Outside this issue my explorer always runs great.

Took to dealer for all the tests, nothing showed up. This forum has been tremendously helpful also, my days owning an explorer are coming to an end.

Fuel pump? I would, just out of curiosity, carry a fuel pressure gauge with me and the next time it does this, test the fuel pressure. Could be a pump that is getting a little long in the tooth.

Thanks for the input sir, my thoughts are similiar. I did check into the cost of a fuel pump already. The dealer drove the car for 80 miles of tests and the pressure never hiccuped so I'm at a loss on what to do

Did you ever find anything on this? Here I am years and year later having the same issue. Drives fine, will randomly stall going under 40MPH, dash lights come on, power steering halts, and it cranks and starts right up no problem.
