When you have the problem does the OD light flash? If it does get the trans code read.

sounds like the valve body, but im not sure, apparently its a common problem for the gaskets to fail on them. Something worth checking anyways

I think the valve body gasket is more of a second generation problem. These seem to have problems with solenoid blocks, servos, but that is not to say that the valve body is not bad.

Sorry has taken so long i have been away.thank all of you im back working on it today no lights flash or anything when this happens and now i can feel slipping after each shift in first and second gear i changed fluid and filter its alot better but problem still there im worried this is about to get real expensive.im going to drop pan agin and start checking gaskets this afternoon trans fluid had no shavings or anything in pan

I am not a transmission tech, but from what I have read on here the servos are a big problem with these Explorers. I fixed the links in my above post so they work now.
