Need your guys's opinion

I a couple of weeks, I am having the JD 2.5" lift put on w/ OME rear springs. I wanted to get 15x8 rims and I have some Q's about tires:

How much will 31x10.5 stick out the sides, I want that
aggressive look. Should I get 31x11.5's?

Is it worth it for me to order my tires from Tirerack, or should I just go to Les Scwaab.

Also, should I get the wheels on the internet somewhere, web adresses?

Could someone show me some pics of their 15x8's, I am still searching for the perfect wheel. I am thinking American Eagle 058's.

Also, because I have manual hubs in the front, do I order specific wheels for the front vs. rear?

Please help me out, thanks alot.
Tim

No one can help with this?

i can't, but i'm sure someone can :)

I think you would be fine with 31x11.5s.

Depends on what tires you want as to where to get them. If you go the tirerack route, don't tell them they are for an Explorer.

There are plenty of places online to get wheels. Shipping may outweigh the cost benefit though. You will have to shop around.

Pics - Look up a member named AdamFoote, and look at his homepage. He has some pics of some 15x8 AR 36s on his first gen. X.

With most truck wheels, the only difference between the auto hub and manny hub wheels will be the center caps. For manny hubs, you will need open caps.

Hope I helped a little,

Robb

31x10.50's fit fine on an 8" rim..

Not sure about a 31x11.50..

I know the 32x.11.50 will rub on the front bumper and on the inner fenderwell behind teh tire..

both of those are cutable...

If you do serious wheeling.. the 32" will rub too much wihout more trimming OR adding more lift.. You can use War-153 shackles with the OME springs for the rear and use the Duff drop brackets/springs with f-150 spacers to get about 4" of lift.. but you Will need new brake lines for sure if you do that.. Then 32" tires should fit better.. (not sure about hitting the front bumper.. bu tif it does.. thats an easy cut)..

Anther thing you can do is move your axle forward a little.. When your installing the lift.. you have to replace (or at least should) your Radius Arm bushings...

When you install the new ones.. you should get new washers.. If you do.. Double up on the front most washer (the water that goes the most towards the front of the Radius Arms).. When you put them on you put them facing oposite directions.. e.g.. the front most goes on backwards.. adn teh next one goes on like normal.. This will push your axle forward 1/8" or so.. which may help you keep from rubbing so much on the back of the wheel well (the harder part to cut)..

i think the 31x11.5's will do good...i have 31x10.5 on my stock 94 and they dont rub at all

The 31x10.50's don't rub on your X becuase you have a 2nd Generation Explorer...

1st Generation Explorers can fit 30x9.50 without a lift and rarely can fit a 31x.10.50 without a lift (there are a few people that can do it)..

On the 2nd Gen Explorers 31x.10.50 will fit with no lift.. I don't think I've heard of anyone doing 32x11.50 without a lift (seem to need at least a shackle & TT)

It also depends on what you are doing with it.. Just becuase the tires fit doesn't mean they fit right.. If they barely fit when your on flat ground.. As soon as you go off-road of even go up into a driveway at an agle with the wheels turned they will rub.. and if it is bad enough it can actually cut the tire... Just make sure that it "really" fits...

Remember.. a Sawzall is your friend.. :)
