Please help, amp bypass...might have goofed

Hi, I know my husband posted something somewhere on here about bypass amp, and no one responded, but now I think I might have ordered the wrong part, and I'm trying to get this done for him before he gets home from work. I have a 94 explorer 2 door, bought a amp bypass, but now see other harness' that come with: one harness is the power harness the other harness is a bypass harness and the 3rd harness is the new harness for the speaker inputs from your radio.
Do I need the power harness and the speaker input harness? I didn't order those, and now I've got things part way torn apart. Oh boy, did I get myself into a mess.
I don't really want to start cutting and splicing - just thought this little plug in guy would fix my problem.

just run new speaker wire its easier and it will be much better then your stock wires.

There is no need to cut and splice. Use the two harnesses for power and speaker. Connect the wires to the harness coming from the new radio. There is a blue wire coming from the new radio that is usually used to power a power antenna. Connect that blue wire to the blue wire on the harness you bought and this will "bypass" the amp. Actually, it provides power to the factory amp.

your wrong,and your right,just simply using the amp turn on wire fro mthe deck,and wiring that right back into the amp wire from the FACTORY amp,does NOT bypass the factory amp,it enables it,and it will sound like hell.

just go to a decent audio shop near you,and let them know you have an explorer with a factory amplifier,and you want the FACTORY AMPLIFER BYPASS harness,because you installed a aftermarket headunit,any decent shop will know what your talking about.

and i dont care what ANYONE says,rerouting all new speaker wire is NOT eaiser then simply popping a panel,and unplugging 2 connections,and putting the harness adapter in,it took me all of 10 minutes if that to do the amp bypass.

and unless your going for super highpowered,seperately amplified speakers in your vehicle,the stock wiring is perfectly fine.

in closing,just buy the bypass adapter,all you have to do,is take loose the rear pass side panel,unplug the two connections,one is on top of the amp,the other is below it,the bypass harness simply plugs in between them,put the panel back on,and your done.

in order to comptlely rewire your vehicle with new speaker wire,all the doorpanels would have to come loose,as would most of the interior panels.

FYI,the bypass cost me 12 bucks

Ok, got the panel off and plugged in the bypass harness. Crackle noise is gone, but subwoofer doesn't work now. What can I do about that??? What on earth is the other amp like box between amp and sub?

my suggestion would be to go buy a relatively small amplifier,and use that to power the subwoofer,you could splice into the factory wiring to power the seperate amp if needed.

or just run new speaker wires to your door speakers and let the factory amp power the sub like i told you to do it took me a whole 25 mins to run new wires to the doors

theres no way you ran new speaker wire to all the speakers, PROFESSIONALLY in 25 minutes.

anybody can spool out some wire and make it look like a ratsnest.

I doubt you ran speaker wires to all 4 doors in 25 min....Id say you would be pushing it just to get all the trim off in 25 minutes. It is probably very unpractical for her to try to run completely new speaker wire by herself.

so running an after market amp , rca's , remote cable . ground and power will be any better for her? plus spending money on a new amp

I'd actually say the best thing is to just leave the sub unhooked.

Thanks everyone for all your help! It actually sounds ok without the subs, so, for now...I shall just put my mess back together. Then after all the christmas spendatures I'll worry about it. For me to rewire everything would take a long time, (I have a 5 year old shadow that follows me everywhere when she's not in school) - but very good option if it comes down to not being happy with the sound.
