Please Help I just need a quick answer

I know that there is probably a thread on this somewhere and yes I know how to use the search feature, but I am short on time and need to make a decision.... I need a new tranny and found a used 4.0L 2wd tranny from a 97-99 will this fit my 96..... Also a 4.0 2wd both are auto.

It will probably bolt up but yours is a 4-speed and the 97+ is a 5-speed. Your PCM doesn't have the electronic controls for the 5 speed and the electrical connectors are different.

Great thank you so much for your reply, I am guessing I would need to look for a 95-96 or just a 96 model year transmission correct?

You need to look for a 95-96 4x4 transmission. The output shaft is different on a 2wd, and the only way to change them is to completely dismantle the trans. The output shaft is the first thing into the case when assembling it.

Aack! I was thinking you had a 4x4... Yes, you are correct... You need one from a 95-96 2wd.
