I was wondering if anyone can help me with my 1993 explorer? Until yesterday it has been running fine, no serious problems here!Well what happened was I started the engine and it started fine, when I went to pull out of the driveway, (in reverse)the engine died!? When I went to restart the engine would just crank and would'nt start up again??? I am so confused??? My battery is new, and has alot of juice (for sure, and I've checked all my fuses and have found no broken ones!My poor explorer just cranks up and does'nt start??? What do you think could be the problem?? Could it have to do with a fuel pump shut-off switch??? If so how do I find this swicth , and how do I restart it? (I have no owners manual)UHG! also I am leaning towards a fuel problem only because I am getting spark from the plugs, and I really don't think it can be a electrical problem!? ANy info would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanx in advance!Email me please!!!! sh8yone@worldnet.att.net

I'd check your battery cables, there known to corrode from the inside (positive only), try cleaning the battery connectors... that would be my first step anyways.

I have just recently changed the connectors on the ends of my battery wires, cuase like u said they were in pretty bad shape! I am getting good juice from the battery, when turning the ignition it sounds like it's gonna start, but then just cranks and cranks with no luck!

I would check the main fuel pump relay.

Try the plug under the front of the passenger side that goes to inertia siwtch for the fuel pump. Either the plug came out or the switch needs to be reset, same thing happened to me. By the way, did have a passenger at the time, my son knocked mine off with his size 12's.

It takes three things for an engine to run, air, fuel and spark. To determine if it is a fuel problem get a can of carb cleaner and with help from an assistant spray the cleaner into the intake tube (through the fitting for the crank vent tube) while cranking the engine. If you have a fuel problem it should start and run as long as you continue to feed it. If that fails to start your Eexplorer, pull a plug and plug it back onto the wire. Set it where it will ground and have your assistant crank the engine. You should see spark arking across the gap. If not you have an ignition failure.
