I just got a 99-explorer sport, and I have a couple of questions.
#1 how do I get the door speakers out? I can’t get the grill off!!
#2 I have a Pioneer HU I am thinking about installing in the explorer, but I will lose my CD changer. Can I run the new speakers I will be getting off of the stock HU and be able to notice a difference?

Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks

You will notice a difference with new speakers even on the stock system. I replaced my speakers with relatively cheap speakers and the difference in clarity is definately noticeable.

welcome to the site!

So you mean I have to take off my door panel just to replace the stockers???
That sucks!!! The rear ones I just remove the grills

That is correct. It's not that hard to remove the panels at all. Search the forums, it's been talked about countlessly on here.

start from the bottom, and pop out the door. its held in by little white plastic things that pop out of the door. There is like 4 on the bottom and 3 on each side. After they are all poped out, pull up on the panel and it comes off the door. Be careful taking it off because the wires for the windows and locks are still attached to the panel and you dont want to rip them out. Oh and make sure you take the 2 screws out under the lever from inside that opens the door before you even try to pop off the panel and have your windows rolled all the way down. Hoped you got that lol. I have a 99 explorer sport also and i redid all the speakers. Its really easy

Please note that those are component speakers, and while they will sound good it will be more complicated to wire up.

My recommendation for an easy installation would be these:
