please help with auto hubs

i am having problems out of the stupid auto locking hubs in my 91 explorer. is there anything i can do to make the ones i have stronger? instead of buying the manual locking hubs.

i was going to try to make the auto hubs i have stronger for trail riding. the driver side keeps slipping inside the hub. i know its the pins that catch each other in the hub to turn the front wheels. they keep rolling over each other and not grabing.

They could need cleaning if someone has packed them with grease, they are suppose to be lubed with ATF. Read up on them, there are no pins that I am aware of in there. Often if you insert a washer in there to take up the worn area they work the way the did when new.

the washer trick works good they still pop when they have very hard pressure on them but its alot better than it was.

You may not have a thick enough washer in there. Either way, glad it helped.
