I recently bought a 1988 for third with a 5.0 efi engine and it was running fine untill a couple of days ago I replaced the alternator on it and now if I floor it or accelerate too quickly the engine just revs and the car doesn't move it also sounds wierd wen it revs if I slowly speed up it drives fine and can still go fast it's an automatic btw and I'm hoping it's not the transmission please help

O and the engine seems to be getting really hot after shirt drives and all it's fine on tranny fluid oil and coolant

Sounds to me like it's not related to the alternator repair. I'm no whiz at auto trannies..
