Plowing with an Explorer

watch the frame buckle behind the front tires, The frames on the 3rd + 4th gens just arnt made to handle the stresses of plowing. Im sure the warning is there for a reason, id listen to it for sure.

I don't think you'd hit a snow bank that hard... but yes it could happen.
Then again Ive seen a F250 that hit a concrete curb that buckled like that.

It just comes down to that fact that the Explorer was not designed to plow, but in moderation and being careful, it can do it.

Check out 'Plowsite'... Quite a few guys plowing with Rangers and some Explorers... Some even plow commercially with them... I am mounting a Sno-way on my 2001 Sport Trac this weekend and previously plowed commercially for years with a 1991 explorer... If you keep your wits about you and work smarter than harder, you will do fine..

Homesteader plow for my 03 exploer

Hello everyone.

Advice/Pointers?
I have a 03 eddiebauer explorer.
V6. Nice condition and I am thinking about putting one of the new fisher homesteader plows on it for 3995.00 installed. It only weighs 250 lbs and looking at you tube vids looks like it plows real well. BTW I am only using this for my Drvwy wich is long and skinny. Maybe some of the neighbors.
Anyone have one already? what do you think and do I need to beef up my Frnt end. I already have 4 new quick struts going in. We all know how these frnt ends are. I have had 5 of them. Anyone?

Homesteader by fisher

I googled this as well and found that there are videos with the 250 lb homesteader plow on a 03 like mine. Looked like it went thru the snow real well.
I am going to use it on my Driveway with is not wide but long. Tight . It will be perfect and as long as you do not beat on a truck it will be fine.
