I'll be putting in new plugs this week on my 2000 5.0. My q is I'm installing indexing washers and I'm not sure which side of the head the intake valve is on. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I want to know if this works for you, or if you notice a difference
Point the plug away from exhaust port
I can e-mail you pics of heads if that will help

I gained abot 1.5 mpg on avg. in a 93 X some years ago.
At $15.00 for a set of washers and at the price of gas these days, it's worth it.

Al ?

Looking at my 4.0 OHV, the exhaust valve is on the right and intake on the left for each cylinder. This is from the side of the car looking into the compartment. My plugs would be clocked between 10 and 11 o'clock.
On your 5.0 Look at the exhaust manifold, the ports are inline with the exhaust valve. The same with the intake manifold/valve.
Perhaps some kind soul could show a pic of a 5.0 head and a more exact placement can be determined.

NGK V-Power and Taylor wires installed and indexed. Now give me a week or so to report MPG. So far running about the same.

There goes the PIA again for the plugs. I didn't think it was that bad except for #4, which still wasn't too bad, the wire for # 4 was indeed a PIA though. Unless the 4.0 is worse?
