yea,i mean im not needing plugs at the time.i always just look around and try to find new and better things out there.i have bosh platinum irridium plugs.i know a lot of people say there no good in fords, but i have them in over 25k miles and no problems.when i do change plugs,i was looking towards them e3 plugs.

a friend of mine ran the e3 in his acura.. 2 of the 4 plugs broke apart in the head. the ignition system on your explorer isnt hot enough to require a 'fancy' plug. a regular platinum will give you more consistent spark and good durability.

oh wow, thats not good.yea i hear that a lot about plugs for explorers.i'll take all that into consideration when the time comes to change plugs.thanks.

Why do these posts seem to pop up all at the same time. Must be watching the powerblock... :D

i personally have been using E3 diamondfire plugs and i love them. hell they have done a study on horsepower TV. They put them in a 400 hp engine and it gained 7 hp and used less gass. now i know its no high power engine or anything but a more efficient plug was enough for me lol. They were still a bit expensive at 7 bucks a plug but it was worth the price. Heres a link for the Horsepower TV vid.

well 1 the vid shows from an engine dyno that there is a gain in hp and less gas used and 2 be specific on which kind of racing ur talking about because the majority of pro mud bogging trucks and alot of circut racers use E3 plugs. if u mean drag racing they dont use them because in a NHRA drag car the spark plugs only last for about the first 20 feet after that the only thing keeping combustion is the compression.

...I would like to see an honest comparison test chart of all these plugs...

Stick with the OEM double platinum plugs. Dollar for dollar they are a good choice!

Let's see...the OEM plugs last 100K...and do exactly what the factory designed them to do...and are about 10% of the cost. I'll tell you what. You put those in your car and dyno test it. Then put OE plugs in it and dyno test it. Also check emissions. You are going to be very upset at paying the price for plugs when you see the difference.

If you want to burn as much fuel as possible, get all you can from the burn, and even clean up your emissions, go buy an MSD box. Now THAT is dyno and emissions proven. Not a lot of hp...if any...but the car will be much crisper on the bottom end and be cleaner too. MSD burns the plugs for 30 degrees of rotation below about 3000 rpm if I recall. It flat works.

NGK V- Power premium copper plugs are an excellent buy! They fire very well and efficiently. Its just a good stout plug for your application! And all for under $20.00. I use them in my Volvos, Lincoln town cars (1995s') etc. The are designed to maintain a clean electrode and fire in cold temps etc.
