"Plus" version of Sport

What it's worth (private party sell) all depends on where you live. Where I live, unless it has under 100k, it's not worth more than $1000-$1300 max in average condition. If you have receipts recent for repairs, new brakes, tires and battery - add more valve.

IIRC I only paid $1200 for our '97 Sport XLT 5 years ago. Of course I don't live in Chili.

this does hold true. i bought a 02 sport back in june for 750 with around 180,000 kms on it which is 112 miles (the guy kept the rims and tires, i had a set so it didnt matter). did a major cleaning on it, changed the front brakes and water pump, did a safety on it (which is required for road worthiness) and sold it a few weeks later for 3500. i live in canada so they are not rare, but finding one thats not rusted out is

in all respect, i hate it when someone asks "whats my truck worth?". in reality, what its worth to you would be different to someone else. i as well as some on here have thousands and thousands of dollars into it, and will never get it back unless i parted it out. your truck is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. if i sound like i am ranting, im really not. buying and selling these trucks over the years thats really what it boils down to is what someone is willing to buy it for.

Maybe I didn't explain the complete scenario: My father in law sold me the truck, but -as you can expect on family business deals- now I have to pay him for it several months after I actually got the truck in my hands.

The thing is I didn't know about this "premium" trim, so thank to this thread now I know that the truck it's going to cost me more that what I thought hahah

It’s got 90k, and has a pretty flush mounted Warn winch. People love winches, and will often buy a truck they otherwise wouldn’t for one. It also looks to be well above average in body condition.

Bingo! I have bought and sold so many Gen II explorers, I could not have said it better myself.
Your local craigslist will give you an idea of what similar vehicles in your area are worth better then KBB

Completely agree. It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. As you're buying your's from an in-law (typically not a good idea in my opinion, never buy/sell from/to friends or family) I assume you're getting a decent deal, but as I told you earlier I wouldn't pay extra/much for the "special equipment" on a 23 year old vehicle, as those accessories may not have much life left in them at this point.

My buying experiences (for what it's worth) in the southern U.S,
'01 Eddie Bauer V8, loaded in excellent condition in 2012, $4150
'00 Mountaineer V8, loaded in good condition in 2012, $2350
'00 Monty V8 AWD, loaded in fair condition in 2012, $2150
'97 Expl Sport XLT SOHC, in fair condition in 2014, $1200
'00 Expl XLT V8 well equipped in fair condition 2014 $1500
