Ok, so autozone did there thing and the code was PO443, which they say is the purge valve. the guy there said it was probally carbon buildup and erased the code. he also said that it probally wouldnt come back. well, it did. so my question is, who has had experience with this before and what, if anything, did they do to fix it? im might also add that the car does idle somewhat rough. thanks.

Would suggest posting/moving this to the EEC-V forum. They will know more of the speicifics relating to your '98.

P0443 Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Malfunction

It could be build up - but you may have a wire issue.

Possible Causes
- EVAP Purge valve VPWR circuit open
-EVAP Purge control circuit open, shorted to ground or to power
-EVAP canister purge valve is damaged EVAP
-PCM has failed

Setting Conditions
- Engine started, engine running, and the PCM detected an unexpected voltage condition on the Purge or VMV solenoid circuit when the device was cycled "on" and "off" during the CCM test.
-This code sets in 2 Trip(s).

Hope that might help. Try searching the boards!

-Drew
