Getting ready to change out the rear and probably the front sway bar bushings on my 96 Limited 5.0 using the stock OE swaybars and poly bushings. If I change just the rear bushings will it create any dangerous oversteer/understeer conditions? Plainly the rubber bushings on the rear are badly compressed. As I tow a small travel trailer, this should help. Would appreciate hearing from 95 up owners who have changed their bushings to polys retaining their stock sway bars and pitfalls to watch out for. Thanks and happy trails! Mike

What I shall relate deals with the larger Explorer Express bar in the rear and the stock in front:

I had stock bushings on the front when I added the EE bar to the rear; the EE bar vame with poly bushings. The ride was fine. Then I added poly to the front, and the handeling improved.

Good kyck.....

Come on, folks! Surely there are some others who have replaced their rubber bushings with polys on their stock OE front & rear sway bars. Are the front tougher to replace than the rear? Thanks Mike

The swaybar bushings on the front of my 99 were much harder to replace than the rear.
