Here in Spain, Explorers are not popular so there are no accessories in the market at all except those provided by Ford Spain (almost nothing….!!!). Even worse is that Ford dealers don’t know anything about Explorers.

I would like to increase the power of the driving lights of my 95’ XLT but not adding any extra light as here (Spain), we are not allowed (by law!) to modify our cars.

So, my only possibility is to increase the power by changing the original lamps (which are in fact very poor).

I went to a few Ford Dealers but they said they couldn’t do it.

* Any recommendation?
* What would be the best lamps/system that may replace the existing ones?
* Any US or Canada on-line shop from where I can buy the lamps?

Thank you to everybody for this wonderful site..!!!!

Not modify your car!! That is just not right. I could not live there. :D

Depending on the current wattage, you could maybe go higher.

When you say driving lights do you mean the headlights or do you have driving lights under the bumper?

IIRC, he will have driving lights in place of the factory fog lamps.

Hi Bill,

Thank you for your reply and sorry for my bad English.
I mean the headlights?
Do you have any idea of how to improve them and where (on-line shop) to buy?

Thank you again and regards from Spain!
Oscar

European headlights

Fly,

What you need are a set of better bulbs for your car. European X use Halogen H4 bulbs type P43T. They look like these.

These are waiting to go in my X - they are rated at 60 watt main beam and 55 watt dipped beam. These are the same power as the standard bulb in your car but give up to 30% more light than the standard. You can get bulbs that are rated much higher than this but they get much hotter and could damage your headlight. - Not good!

You should be able to get this type of bulb from a good motor accessory shop. They give a blue tinted light and are supposed to be good in adverse weather conditions.

I hope this helps

Jon
