Stang crowd has been doing this for yrs, A friend of mine found a shop that would modify (port) OEM V6 SOHC T.B.s for us little guys.
TB on the right is OEM, left is ported, but still OEM,60mm.
Since the OEM plenum is also 60mm I see no benifit with using a larger T.B.
OEM T.B bench flows at 575.4 CFM, Ported T.B flows at 600.8.
25.4 more CFM= much better Throttle response thru the entire power band, with a very noticable power increase.
Dyno numbers in a couple weeks.

The results should be interesting from the extra 25CFM. I'd like to know th benefit, if any. What are you predicting spindlecone?

how about a 96 4.0 ohv TB port? would they do those too? :D

Maybe 6 H.P.Are only 4 installed at this time, nobody has dynoed yet and SOTP is useless IMO.At least to prove a mod for effectiveness.
I tried the 4.6 stang TB, but they are not suited to the 02/05s, the linkage arrangment is slightly diff, I had problems with my O.D.
The reason we went with ported instead of bigger Dia, is obvious.
Using a larger Dia.TB and trying to cram more air thru a smaller plenum opening, will not work.
I believe removing the internal restrictions will.
BTW, the guy that perfected this mod, is a freekin guru on the V6 SOhc engines.
And yes I Have seen his Charts, 228.5 RWHP, 290.2 RWTQ, on an 03 trac

Care to let us know who he is?! :D Contact info? ;)

One of the guys over at TCCoA ports and half shafts TBs, he hasn't done one for the SOHC yet though. I have a spare at home waiting to be done!

I scored a ported and polished TB for my 5.0 from an eBay seller a few months ago. He does good work. The difference was very subtle over OEM and may have been psychological. The price was reasonable. I did notice acceleration and idle were a bit smoother afterwards. He'll do port/polish work for any make/model and does plenum as well as TB if wanted. He just happened to have a TB for the 5.0 so I scored it without having to send him mine first.

Go here if anyone's interested. Jerry's a great guy to deal with.

Joe, sent you a PM with the contact info.
I also got one on ebay, not the same seller as cellys, so I cannot comment on jerrys work.
Mine was a total hack job, the guy just used a grinder to crudely port the TB.
The one above is finly milled.
Also make sure if you do this mod, to stake and locktight the blade screws.
The 02 and up TBs on the V6 cannot be polished as they are phenolic.
I think the flowbench numbers are pretty impressive for such a simple mod.

Jerry mentioned to me he's been doing this for years, has drag racing experience etc. The quality appeared to be there. Seemed to know what he was doing and was pretty confident about his work.

Sorry for bumping a very old thread, but I'm guessing this was Todd who did this work or was it someone else...
