Hey I know nothing about Explorers and I just wanted to ask a couple questions before I buy one.

1 How reliable is the 4.0 sohc and the 5spd auto

2 Is 8k US a good price for a 97 fully loaded,2dr,pwr sunroof, 4.0sohc w/85K miles.

3 Will the fushia color make me look gay?

Welcome to the site.. The 97 was the 1st year the SOHC was offered.. make sure the truck has had all the recalls performed on it.. Also check on the 5R55E (the tranny), they are a pretty much a A4LD transmission just with some modifications. The tranny should be good as long as it has been maintained.. I have over 114,000 on my original tranny. I would look up the blue book value of the truck..

1. the combo is relatevely reliable if maintained proper. the tranny is the weak part and sometimes fails and needs a rebuld.

2. 8k sounds a little steep to me, but it all depends on the condition and the local market.

3. i dont think the fuscha color will make ya look gay, just tell everybody its red.

Well the truck is in pretty much spotless inside and out, except for one dent in the passenger door. In my area there are usually snow storms until March so that may explain the price. I also used kbb.com to pull a price, $8500 was the sugguested retail, hopefully I can get the price knocked down to about $7500 or less.
