Possible New guy here....

Well, I'm from the dark side of the fence, been driving GM all my life. Recently totalled my 96 BlazerLS due to a roll over accident. Found a hell of a deal on a 00 Expolorer XLS 4 dr 4x4 /w the 4.0. It has 36K on the clock, pretty many options. Just wondering what I should look out for on these trucks? I can recite you anything for a s-series but this is a whole new ball game to me so I'm a little shakey about switching sides Look forward to posting here.

Look under the hood. Is it a SOHC engine? It will say so on the top.

Should I be werry of the SOHC engine ? I have the VIN # and when I run it it comes back 4.0 L, it has the auto as well. is that the ALD4 or whatever it is or a different tranny. I haven't taken delivery on the truck yet just trying to understand what I'm getting into.

Well its official, I bought it today, sitting in my driveway so far I'm extremly happy and pleased with it. look forward to posting and learning about the new X.

Welcome, I don't think you can get the SOHC in an XLS model. There wouldn't be anything to be weary of even if it did though.
