Hey guys, back again with possibly a tranny issue. Yesterday will driving, between 55-60 mph I felt what I can only describe as a "thump". The rpms did not increase and no engine light or O drive late came on. I was able to replicate this again a couple of more times by by steadily accelerating from 50-60 mph. I have been reading the forums here for almost a year and am aware of the solenoid issue with these transmissions. Does this sound like that is starting to go? I actually called the stealership this a.m and they said it was most likely the problem, and they would happily charge me 1200-1300 bucks to replace. I've read the sticky on replacing this, seems like something I would have no problem doing. I bought this truck with 60k on it a yr ago, has 68k on it now. The transmission fluid has not been changed (only because after calling several dealerships they all said it was good for 100k). So could this "thump" be caused by dirty fluid? Thanks in advance for you help.

My 05 4.0 4WD is starting to do the same thing... 110,000 miles... Have you had any luck on finding the problem????

After trying several things (like cleaning the MAF) I changed the plugs..just normal ol stock motorcraft plugs...and the problem went away and has not done it since. Update your post on things you end up trying. Good luck.
