Well my caliper broke and tore about my rotor so i figured since i have to take apart the whole front end i might as well convert the hubs. Installed my 4x4 works for the first time ever since i had the truck. I have a 94 Explorer XLT. I installed the Warn Hubs with the conversion kit pretty easy as long as you had a torque wrench and hub socket.

Few questions:

Only when braking in engaged 4x4 mode i get a loud clunk or pop from the passenger side wheel. I read other threads about this while turning or driving but i only hear this during braking! This noise doesnt happen when in 2wd at all. It feels as if something is moving under there did i put the inner hub socket on too tight?

There was some grease in the packages hub from warn was i supposed to put more grease in?

I refuse to get stuck in the snow again

correct, you can leave the hubs locked and use the button to turn it on/off, but dont leave it on all the time. only if their off for short brakes. otherwise you can end up doing some damage. dontk now why your hearing that when braking, sorry.

...welcome here...:D

...i think you might want to look at the spindle nut tightness on your pass side...it sounds like it is loose...this link will give you some insight on it...;)

...to shift into 4wd after your hubs are locked, mine seems to work best while i'm driving and hit the button....it's 4 on the fly...for four low while in 4wd, you would come to a stop and put your shifter in neutral, push 4low and you are on your way...you will have to stop and hit the 4low button again while in neutral to resume 4hi...

...and yes, in winter months alot of people leave there hubs locked with no problems...you will get more wear and tear on your front end and maybe 1mpg less..

...good luck and enjoy...:D
