I average about 30 mpg.....................but I also use high dollar wax and high dollar oil, so I am above "normal" Explorers. ;)

"Oooh. You were cold as ice Black Magic, Darkness..."

my dads '97 V8 AWD stock gets 14-15mpg city and 18-20 highway....its funny thats exactly whats on the window sticker 14C/18H

now i've noticed my stock '95 with 131k miles gets awsome mpg city. over 400 miles a tank mixed with a decnet lead foot. wish my limited got that good of mpg. but thats what we give up for looks..lol

Just got 20 mpg when i filled up yesterday in my 92 4.0 4x4 5 speed.

91 with 50 series flowmasters and a K&N Filter with a bad alignment (waiting till after my lift and tires are on, so i dont have to get like 3 alignments) and engine that needs a tune-up gets about 13-14 overall... California Highway Miles... really hilly and windy here on the coast.

Im getting 16mpg in my 95 explorer 4.0ltr. 5-speed manual. All my driving is in the city and i also went from 222/70/15 to 224/70/16 for my tires and new wheels. ohh well, it looks much better at least. Still looking at the best ways to improve my mileage

96 xl since a few minor tune-ups and a few small things ive read on here i now regularly get 23 mpg on the highway, alot worse on the city due to the 3.27 gears, but 90% of my driving is highway.

Around town, i get about 13-15, my total average is about 16.

23 hwy, is not possible to get more with the SOHC engine IMO, fact of life, live with it

2003 4x4 4.0L K&N, Acetone 2oz / 10 gallons 23MPG (highway only). Note systhetics throughout.

just reccently calculated it... 16.4 mpg.. thats higher than my usual 15 though

I have an OHV 4.0 L

Totally stock 98 SOHC 5-spd auto...20 MPG average mixed city/highway with a very light foot. Mainly about 19 mixed city/hwy (18 in the winter).

Averaging about 13 1/2 MPG, primarily highway miles and the truck is almost 14 years old, not bad considering all the problems I've had with her

16-19 mixed city/highway (<65mph)

12 mpg highway (>65mph)

Potentially +20 mpg @ a constant 55mph in OD. hahah realistic? i think not!
