- 2017 Explorer Platinum
Hey guys, first time poster here. My wife and I are in the process of buying a new 2017 Ford Explorer and we are heavily leaning towards to the Platinum. In fact, we're hoping we can make a deal next week. I was really wanting the 3.5L EcoBoost engine, but the wife really did not like the sporty look of the Sport so we did what any rational couple would do and compromised on the Platinum
1. I've seen that the Platinum has noise dampening or abatement above and beyond the other trim levels. Is that correct?
2. I've seen vague references to the control system for the EcoBoost "learning" or tuning itself to the behavior of the vehicle or driver. Anyone have any information about this? I have a suspicion, based on nothing but an educated hunch, that this probably has more to do with the vehicle than the driver. What kind of parameters are being "learned"?
3. Has anyone been successful in negotiating a lower rate on the Ford ESP when buying? I know I can get them at Flood Ford, Anderson & Koch, etc. But, if we can could get the dealer to price match it'd be more convenient for us.
