I was thinking about getting the KKM air filter, but then I got to thinking, wouldn't it get muddy and clogged when I wheel? Where I go 'wheelin at, there's A LOT of mud. There'a always mud on my engine after even the lighest run, so I was wondering if that would mess the filter up and make a potential problem on the trail.

We've had no problems with the open KKM while wheeling in the mud. It took me an hour and a half the clean off the mud from my last outing. If this is a concern then you could always wrap some pre-filter around the Cone just for wheeling.. I now K&N sells some sponge pre-filter thing for their round filters...

On the same token, what if I was to have a snorkel custom made and the idea was to put the KKM filter on top of the snorkel (on the outside), would you guys foresee any issues? Rain getting in? excess dust, etc
Thanks for your input

Dust wouldn't be a problem, but the rain will. Thats why you don't see any rigs with unprotected external filters. Once the filter gets wet it dramatically cuts down on the air flow.

Might i suggest a Search for " Redneck Engineering Snorkel" its a snorkel me an my bro made up, works great. I use it when on major outtings playing in the deep mud and water, just becuase i am concerned bout my KKM in the water. I hoep to build a Real Good snorkel one day, but this one works quiet nice, and you would need to fill you Cabin with water to hydrolock, aslong as you dont have any leaks in the system...

here i searched for you heres the link - here
