Potential re-entry to Ford

So I come from a Ford family. My dad has had an explorer or mercury mountaineer for as long as I remember. I have had mostly cars from the escort to an SVT Focus. Both had turbo upgrades for more speed. The escort I actually flew in a turbo cosworth engine to be swapped in.

I moved onto an Xterra and now have a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I dislike the Grand Cherokee. It has served its purpose and is fun off road but the regular drive is painful. No pickup for the highway and the brakes offer no bite when needed.

That said I am looking to pick up an Explorer Sport and rejoin the Ford universe. Joined this site to look at some things people have done with their sports as well as to ask some questions.

Would be the 2014. Most likely order one in as I don't see the need for the 401a package that they all seem to have.

Really standard is pretty well equipped and I would just throw a tow package on it.
