Hi, what can I do to amplify my 4 Kappas and add a sub to my '05 stock head unit (non-audiophile). I just want a little more bass and a little more power, I like clean, full sounding '70's rock, blues etc. I appreciate any advise. Thanks.

The thread title is wrong, I have 4 Kappas, and don't know how to add power plus a sub. Thanks.

google: car audio amplifier

If you want full sounding clean music...invest in quality sound dampening material for the doors

So,,, do I look for a 5 or 6 channel amp, or go with a 4 channel that has provisions to have a bass amp hooked into it? I've checked Chrutchfield, but don't know what is required for 4 speakers plus sub woofer. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

How much are lokking to spend? The best way would be a 4 channel for the doors and a mono channel for the subs. But it can be done with a 5 or 6 channel or even 1 big 4 channel.

Well, I had hoped to spend around $ 300.00, but can go more if needed. I thought that when the specs list that there are inputs and outputs, you must be able to run a bass amp from a 4 channel. I really don't need a lot of power, I am under the impression that using an amp will allow me to not turn up the head unit so much, and get better sound quality. I need just a little more bass as well, so would like to add a sub, I will search this forum to find if anyone has made boxes to fit where the factory one should go. I am handy enough, but don't know how to figure out the frequency a box will have, but I'll try to find that out here. Thanks.

here's what I'd do and I've done 2 of my buddy's cars like this also, I've ran all the speaker wires to a separate 4 channel amp, hooked all the speakers up to that separate amp, because most after market head units run 50 watts each on all speakers, which isn't enough if you want to crank it up, so get a 100watt x4 channel amp hook those up (seeing you have infinity kappas, which are really good speakers) make sure it's an amp where u can switch to treble (highs, vocals, cymbals, etc.), run your wires for the subs, to another separate amp, 100watts or up depending on the type of music you like and you said u like 70's and blues, so I'd say a 10" 400 watt sub on a bridged 200 or maybe even a 300 watt amp should give you an awesome system for that type of music, I used to be in audio/video for home installations, used to tweak these systems all the time, and with what i just said should rock your truck pretty sick, so if you have any questions just ask I'll be around man

i built this box for my sub in my 04. i would get a 5 channel if i were you. you arent looking for a lot of boom, so a 5 channel sounds like it would be perfect for you.

If you are okay with losing your front to back fader, you could run a 4 channel amp. Two channels to run all four Kappas wired in parallel, and the other two channels to run a sub in mono.
