Disabled it when i bought my bike rack and seem to remember that it disabled every thing except the button at the lift gate.

All of a sudden today my wife hits the button on the dash and it opens up. Then i tried the remote and it opened too. Button at liftgate is still non assisted.

Is mine the only one ?

I didn't think it is possible to 'Disable' the liftgate controls. Unable to find anything in the manual on that.

On my 2013 Sport disabling the liftgate on the dashboard menu only disables the power liftgate at the liftgate itself. The liftgate button on the dash still operates the liftgate electrically, and also the the remote will still operate the liftgate. I'm pretty sure that is how it is supposed to work. It says "rear switch" at bottom of menu for enabling/disabling liftgate.

After SportCzech's post, I downloaded a copy of the 2013 Owner's Guide. My first post was based on my 2011 Guide. It seems that the 'Enable/Disable Liftgate function has been added to the previous available settings.

You can enable or disable the power liftgate using the information
display. The remote control and instrument panel button will still operate
the liftgate regardless of the setting.

According to this statement, the 'Disable' setting only makes the external liftgate button inoperable. It appears that yours in working as intended.

Dam. Thats going to cause an issue at somepoint. I might have to pull the fuse instead

There seems to be 2 fuses related to the liftgate. The one in the inside fuse box would be fuse #7 and the one in the Power Distribution Box under the hood is fuse #25. That fuse is for the liftgate release. Fuse #7 is for the power liftgate.
You may get by with just pulling #25 under the hood.

I too am in a similar predicament..
I bought the Yakima fullswing 4 bike rack and plan to install it on the 2014 explorer
Concern is lift gate accidentally opening and bumping against the bike rack causing damage to lift gate.. ouch..
One option I guess is to disable the fuse mentioned in this thread .. the other option I am also considering is this. Place soft rubber bumper material on the bike rack where the lift gate potentially can hit the bike rack..
I am preferring the latter option because it seems simple.. but I have a question. Has anyone tried to stop a moving power assisted lift gate midway? any issues/concerns with that

if you don't have a tow button you can just pull the cable from the back of the lift gate button panel.. If you have tow package then this isn't an option.

edit:

just realized how old this post was :)

If something gets in the way of the gate lifting it will stop... if something gets in the way of it closing it will open again. You could use the lift gate height adjustment method to adjust the lift gate to only open an inch. I haven't tested this (I'm not sure if there is a minimum height), but the procedure can be found in your manual.

Basically
Open lift gate
close lift gate to desired maximum height
hold open/close button on lift gate for 5 seconds until beep is heard

The lift gate would then only be able to open to that point before stopping
