You have to install the relay yourself and I think you have to use two. Explorers use reverse polarity switching. Installing them is not hard, just use the right connectors and wires. The best spot I found for mounting the relays is the spot behind the drivers kick panel, there is a recess just the right size for mouting two relays with velcro. This will also put you right next to the wires you need to splice into.

how do i wire the relay? i have a wiring harness with a red/black, red, and a green wire from the kit but what do i wire them to to make it unlock the doors?

First I would check to see if the entry's control module has built in relays, it might. My current alarm has em built in, in my 91 I had to supply my own.
By the way, the X's lock wire is Pink/Yellow, and the unlock wire is Pink/Green. If you dont know this already, this will save you alot of trouble. Spice into em behind the drivers kick panel, they will be in with the rest of the wires in the wrapped bundle you will see.

There should only be one Solid pink with yellow stripe wire, and only one solid pink with green stripe wire, they are the same thickness as each other, and they are a little thicker than the other wires around them. The only thing I am not sure of is the shade of green it is, Ford used a couple different ones. If I had my truck I would show a pic, I should have it back by Friday, I can post one then.
I was completly new to alarms with the '91, it was easier when I did my '92, but I know how frusterating it is.
