Power lumbar (Drivers Side)

The power Lumbar on the drivers seat of my 2004 Sport Trac doesn't work.

When you press the button one direction, you get nothing. When you press it the other direction you get a noisy whirring sound. Is this a common issue with these vehicles? I know my vast explanation of the problem is very mechanically detailed... :)

Are these lumbar motors or whatever easy to repair? Or is this something I should just let alone?
 






One position of the switch runs the lumbar pump motor, the other position only deflates the bladders.

It will require at least unbolting the seat and tilting it back to examine the hose from the lumbar motor to the lumbar bladders in the seat back. Even then you will be limited to checking the under seat portion. Further examination and/or bladder replacement will require disassembling the seat. An upholstery shop would probably repair it cheaper than the dealership. You can get a detailed parts illustration and price quote here:
