I replaced my side mirrors because neither one of them worked. I installed TYC brand w/o puddle light. Result - The drivers side works fine in the vertical tilt, and horizontal pivot. The passenger only has the vertical tilt working the horizontal pivot does not work. I am trying to trouble shoot the problem, but am unable to find a wiring diagram for the mirrors. I have both Haynes and Chiltons manuals, but neither one show the mirror wiring.

The readings from my multimeter are:
Purple to ground switch in the mid position : -6.5mV
Purple to ground switch in the up position : -1.4mV
Purple to ground switch in the down position : +83mV
Purple to ground switch in the right position : +120mV
Purple to ground switch in the left position : -59mV
Green to ground switch in the mid position : -6.3mV
Green to ground switch in the up position : -100mV
Green to ground switch in the down position : +12V
Green to ground switch in the right position : +12V
Green to ground switch in the left position : +6.3mV
Yellow to ground switch in the mid position : -45mV
Yellow to ground switch in the up position : -2mV
Yellow to ground switch in the down position : +25mV
Yellow to ground switch in the right position : +85mV
Yellow to ground switch in the left position : +45mV
Purple to Yellow switch in the mid position : 0v
Purple to Yellow switch in the up position : +12v
Purple to Yellow switch in the down position : -12v
Purple to Yellow switch in the right position : 0v
Purple to Yellow switch in the left position : 0 v
Purple to Green switch in the mid position : 0v
Purple to Green switch in the up position : -12v
Purple to Green switch in the down position : +12v
Purple to Green switch in the right position : 0v
Purple to Green switch in the left position : 0 v
Yellow to Green switch in the mid position : 0v
Yellow to Green switch in the up position : +1mv
Yellow to Green switch in the down position : -0.9mv
Yellow to Green switch in the right position : 0v
Yellow to Green switch in the left position : 0 v

If anyone knows what the wires are for based on color and function I will be very appreciative.

Update:
I found a wiring diagram on a Ranger forum and traced the problem to the green wire. I peeled back the rubber boot from the body to the drivers door, and found the green wire was broken. I did not have time to fix it due to other things I had to spend time on. During my testing on the drivers mirror it was always done with the door open. While driving I tried to adjust the mirrors, and found that neither of them worked. I suspect more broken wires.

The question now is can the harness from the door to the body be removed for repair? It it must be done on the vehicle - How do you get to the wires?

Take the rubber cover off the top of the canister on the door. Remove the bolt and pull the bottom off. Be forewarned, there is not a lot of room to work. Also check down along the floor at the kick panel for broken/corroded wires.
