First and easiest thing to check is for fluid around the pwr strg pump. Could be the pump...could be a line going to/from it. It's usually pretty obvious if that's where it's leaking because of the dirty grime all around it from fluid. If that's dry, your likely culprit is the pwr strg rack seals or line fittings underneath.

Twice I have had to replace the cooler-to-rack hose. 252,000 miles that is the only PS leaks I have had.

Mine has 120,000 miles, could that still be the issue?

Add a little Lucas for power steering to the system.

Does it have to be lucas ive tried other brands that "stop leaks" but havent done anything to stop it

Yes, even with the lower mileage, these trucks are still getting old.....

Good luck with the project.

My 98 (new to me) Ranger XLT 4x2/4 has a leak from the rack. obvious on the driver's side . . . have seen reseal kits for it and am looking to decide if this is another project to try.

Not sure if it has been done before and so it may be an issue that new seals will not fix without some J-B weld to fill worn surfaces?

will update as I find out more.
