My drivers side power window will not go up or down unless I push the button, and pull up on the glass or push down on the glass. It sounds like its surging, and trying to grab, but cant. sounds like the teeth on the motor gear are stripped. How hard is it to take the motor out and replace it? Should I do it myself, or just take it in to ford and have them fix it. Last time they replaced my drivers side rear window motor, and they forgot to charge me for the part ($200.00). I was happy. I doubt they will forget twice. I still had to pay the $120 bucks for labor though.
Anyway, is it worth the hassle to drill out the rivets and replace the motor myself, (if that is what it truly is) or should I just take it in. How much of an @ss pain is it?

Any help apprecieated.

Thank you

Andy

it is easy to get to...there is a huge hole in the door after you take of the panel and the plastic liner attached to the door

Yeah, I've looked at it before. I just don't know how to go about removing the old one and putting in the new one. I have a Haynes manual, but it says jack squat about the power windows. I mainly need some info on removing and installing the motor. Do I need a Chiltons, or is there a site or something that can show me how to do this. I'm sure if I dug into it, It would be an easy fix.

thank you for your help
