A couple of days ago my wife gets in her 2002 XLT and notices the radio won't come on. Then she tries to roll down her power window and it won't budge. Since then we've determined that the dome light doesn't work along with the lights in the vanity mirrors. The strange thing is that the clock on the radio does come on for a few seconds when I push the "Menu" button. Everything else electrical seems to work including the power moonroof. I've tried replacing all the fuses that seem to be related with no luck. The only common thread I can see is that all of the currently broken parts used to work after the car was turned off and before a door was opened. Other than that I'm lost. Please help!

Thanks.

I've never dealt with this problem before, but from the dscription I think you are on the right track thinking it has something to do with the power delay controller.

You've got a warranty, take it to a dealer.

Out of warranty

Unfortunately, I'm over 36,000 miles and therefore out of the warranty.

Dang, that sucks. Since its still only 2 years old, you might try the dealer anyway to see what they would charge you. If its outrageous, give the district manager a call. The NY district guy is Vince Kirksey (313) 845-6254. Boston's manager is Erika Smith (313) 845-5515 . Always worth a shot, especially since you obviously don't have a mechanical problem. Electrical problems like that shouldn't be happening after 2 years. Good luck

Sounds like you are having a problem with the GEM (general electronics module). If it's bad, it's ~ $300
