power window

deal with it for a second.

my driver side power window is not going up and down anymore. it's not the motor (that was replaced this past summer).

this is what has happened since summer.

the motor bearings things went bad in the summer, i didn't know about the quick fix so i just bought a new motor and replaced it. at the same time i realized that the 'relay' inside the door (for when it rolls itself all the way down automatically) had gone bad so i wired past it. i didn't have the function for pressing it once and it going all the way down anymore, but i dealt with it. eventually my entire switch in my door melted down and fused together, so i got a relay from a junkyard and wired it back in and replaced the door switch.

here's my problem.

whenever i toggle the switch up or down, i can hear/feel the window motor trying to click over, and when i hold the relay in my hand, i can feel it moving inside as well.

what is going on? i've tried to pull what i thought was the power window fuse, but all the windows are still working.

what's going on? i need some help.

only advice i can give you is that 3 months ago i had a similar condition with my driver door window system.i installed new speakers and the area of the door panle that has that little bracket that holds the once touch relay box ,i really at that time did not know what it was so instead of putting it back on that bracket i just put it down on the inside of the door cavity it's self ( figureing that if i ever had to get back into the door then it would be a lot easier with out that box there and the short wire harness connected to it ) ....bad mistake ..... the next month i was going down the road and all of a sudden my window just goes down all by it's self ,and kept doing it ramdomlly....come to find out that the relay box i just layed in there now was full of rain water ( thus the need to put it back on that bracket to keep it high and dry) .

i took it out and opened the box up and the pc board had the beginings of corosion all over the relay solder points.i cleaned it and dried it reall good and put it back together but now the one touch feature is dead but yet the window functions perfectlly with the switch . i found at a junk yard a used relay box but before i bought it i thought ( hmmm... better open this thing up and see what the pc board looks like ) it was reall bad ..worse than mine .

was the one you bought a junk yard relay box ?

Boggs1227 might be on to something. My driver window jumped track so I took the door skin off and played around to get it back on, success lasted for about a week. One door slam to many and its back out of the track...anyways I peeled to skin off to see what's up removed the power window switch, to check out what's up. upon putting the door back together, now the passenger side window does the same BS your talking about.

Can you lower your passenger window using the controls on that door? Might won't still does the bouncing. Sucks when the truck starts to fail.

looking forward to hearing what you find fixes this problem.

well i got a new motor from autozone, but i haven't put it in.

i hooked up the old relay today and it worked fine after fiddling with the switch for about 5-6 seconds.

i can control all the other windows as well, but the passenger window "up" function, i had to press the switch a bunch of times really fast before it started to function right.

idk what's going on.

but yeah, i did the same thing, just tossed the relay in the door, i'm going to hook it up right this go around, i'm wondering if the sunlight on the door heated the relay up to much...

who knows. but it's working now.

great! so does your auto down feature still work .....wished mine did but the good news is since it stopped working like that i have found that i dont have to hit the switch twice to crack the window to smoke a cigarette (lol)

the auto feature does work... kinda. it stops midway, i'm thinking something is making the window get stuck, so i'm going to "grease/wd-40/something" the side of the window... cause when it's wet from rain it works great! i'm about to put the door panel on correctly in a few minutes, maybe that'll do it... who knows.

yeah when i was in there i greased up all the tracks and plastic slider parts ...the stuff that was in there was the old factory grease ...it gave out eons ago and it was all dried out and hard as a brick..... so i think after doing all that maybe mine will last a little while longer.also makes the motor work less from less friction .

yeah, im' going to start with the tracks. since the motors are only 54 dollars at my autozone, im' going to repalce all the motors this summer when i have the extra cash.

great to hear you all got your windows workin
well riddle me this
my driver side door wondow switchs work on all the windows
but the other door switchs dont.
the window lock on the driver side door has to stay on or it starts to short out explaining y my other doors window switchs dont work
is that lock out button on a relay some were or what?
i have looked at the repair manual and gone onto the autozone site looking at wireing diagrams but come up with nothing.
