Started having problems the other day. The Power Windows
and the Moon Roof DO NOT WORK. But, the Power Seats still
function, all on the same Fuse/Relay. How is that possible ?

I decided to go to a local shop and have it checked out. Fuses good,
Alternator putting out 14.0 Volts, but, the brand new month old Sears
Diehard Battery is only showing 11.0 volts. Something is not right,

I had heard that SEARS had a run of BAD Diehard Batteries.
I had them check it out and they told me... Alternator Bad

We will install an new Alternator for $335.00.
I said, bye, bye, maybe next week.

Sears was going to get the alternator from AutoZone.
Did you know that AutoZone is now owned by Sears ?
I did not know this.

Time to search for an alternator ONLINE.

I went to AlternatorPros... http://www.alternatorpros.com/

They had just what I wanted. Not a measely old 95 amp Stock Alternator...
But, a 130 amp alternator with a 2 year warranty for only $145.99.

They ship FEDEX overnite for FREE. Ordered it yesterday from Arizona,
got it today at 10:00AM, having it installed as I type this up...

I can't say enough about the wonderful service at http://www.alternatorpros.com/

I hope the Power Window and Moon Roof problem was just a LOW Voltage
problem and this is now taken care of...

In my SHO, the failed 'battery saver' circuit fuse kept my windows, visor lights, dome lights, and moonroof from working...

How do I locate this fuse ?

Open the fusepanel cover on the drivers side of the dash when the door is open. It is fuse #26. Second row over from left, 7th fuse down.

See page 181- 183 of your owners manual... it's a 10amp fuse.

Fuse is good, still nothing works.

K, I'm out... Used up my knowledge! :)

Thanks for the help...

Found out the problem from a retired FORD Mechanic.

Starting telling him my problems and even before I could finish
my sentence, he did it for me and said..;

OH, it's the GEM Unit, located uner the middle of the dash,
removal of the Center Console is necessary to get to it...

I bet the LABOR for this, is going to "KILL ME"

They die all the time in Exploders around 50,000 miles or so.

Known problem. My friend had replaced many of them over the years...

Went to the local Ford Stealer new $250.00
Junk yard price $200.00.... I went NEW

Ordered it today, and it will be in tomorrow,
installed on Monday, and have my Cruise Control RECALL fixed.

Cruise Controls ocassionally catch on FIRE, when used...

me thinks you are blaming the wrong component. The hint on the battery saver relay is a better bet.... followed by the accessory delay relay.

Did you try replacing the relays as well or just the fuse? Look in your owners manual, there are both fuses and relays...

What junkyard would hit you $200 for a GEM? I bought a spare at the boneyard here for $5! Are there any pick 'n pulls there? That's where I go.

Happy now.....

Well "Budwich" I think you have no idea what yu are talking about.

It was a "Bad GEM Unit" diagnosed by FORD.

It cost me $250 for a new Gem Unit.

Ford Stealer charged me $113.00 to swap it out and re-program it.

Got a 12/12 warranty on it and everythng works just fine.

Now I am a "Happy Camper"

Glad you got it fixed. That's what the forum is all about.... suggesting solutions (usually the cheapest / easiest first) to people for them to try.
