I have a weird problem here. All of the power window switches on the doors (besides the driver's door) have lost their ability to operate the windows. The driver's door switches will control them all fine. This all started after I had left a 2x4 resting on the switch of the right rear door for awhile and wondered why the window wouldn't go up for good ten minutes (not my brightest moment). Could this have blown a fuse which is only for the switches on the non-driver's door? Any suggestions?

Yeah it could have burnt the switch too,I would just check the fuses.

Someone's got to help a buddy out

somebody here has to know what the problem is.have you checked all the fuses:D

Oh yea, sorry about that brad. I meant to put that in the bump. All fuses look good. I have heard of 2 other Explorers with the exact same problem..

I am planning on digging in to this hardcore in a couple of weeks to figure it out, but was just wondering if any else had come up with anything.

have you tried testing each individal switch? That would suck not having power to the windows:(

Just out of curiosity... what position is the window lock switch in?

Both positions, same scenario.

Brad, no I haven't tested each individual switch. That will be part of my tearing into it.

EDIT: HMMMMM, but maybe the lock switch is what has gone bad. I will look into it first. Thanks

Keep us posted Robb this problem has been going on for too long:p

hey, have you taken the door panel off yet? after making a few funny sounds my driver's window stopped working completely last night. I took off the door panel and there is a black box mounted to the inside of the drivers side plastic that the wires must be plugged into. mine had a stripped bolt cause the mount to come loose and the harness came unplugged. I just plugged in the clip and presto! I had power. Hope that helps

Fixed!:D

Man, don't you hate it when you think something serious is going to be wrong, so you just put it off. Then when you get into it, it is a 1/2 hour project.

Tore apart the "master" switch this evening and the Window Lock switch contacts were extremely dirty. There was no way any voltage could possibly flow through it. So, no juice through lock swtich means no voltage to any other window switches. A little Q-tip cleaning and problem solved.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Robb:)

Good job Robb its only been 6 months:rolleyes:
