power wire gauge

i was running a 700 watt boss amp for my sub, and i am upgrading to a 1000 watt boss amp soon, right now my power wire is an 8 guage, at what point do i need 4 gauge? should i run 4 guage for my 1000 watt amp? or will the 8 guage do just fine?? only reason im asking is because every place i go to doesnt really know...and in the end they just try to sell me the most expensive. i appriciate the help.

1000 watt max amp? If so and if the run is less than 16' you'll be OK. It wouldn't hurt to upgrade to 4g and quality 4g wire won't break your walet.

You'll be fine. It's only like 200W RMS.

your more than fine. with BOSS your fine until you have over 3,000 rms or so.
