I just purchased a Kicker kx1200.1 amp and two L7 12" subs. The Kicker manuel recommends using a 1/0 gauge power wire for the amp. That seems a little overkill to me, I was hoping to use a 4 gauge. Just wonder what your recommendations and expirences are with this?

For 1200 watts, and the length of wire that you will need from the battery to the amp, which will most likely be located in your trunk, definitely use 1/0 gauge. You can get it cheap on eBay. knukonceptz is a good seller to check out.

Trying to squeeze power out of wire that is too small is a bad idea. You should ALWAYS overkill and not go too small. Its one area where you shouldnt scrimp.

i agree.. use the 0 gauge.. i posted a topic with pictures on how i ran mine.. search for it

If you want the full power use the recondmendations if you want alright power go with the 4 guage it probably won't make that much of a diff.
