2003 XLT 4.0
Hello all,

I have a 2003 Explorer XLT (4.0) with what I assume are original Ford (NTK:JAPAN) O2 sensors.
I cannot seem to find a confident replacement part from FORD Australia, NTK, Bosch or a few of the spare parts stores here in OZ and was wondering what advice you guys can give me.

The Ford O2 sensor part number is: XC2F-9F472-A1A.

I have been given the following advice: - Order from USA ( Ford Australia), Premier EGO-006, Premier EGO-223, Bosch 0258005716, 02588005729, 0258005717, 0258986603, NTK OZA488-D1,D2.

The VIN number is dated 09/2003 but built date is 07/2003.

The sensors are both the same on my vehicle - green heat shield and plug at 300mm (12") long.

Nothing listed above matches the length but nearly all the plugs look OK but colours are mainly white.
I have also heard that Ford changed the sensors from 07/2003 which is also creating confusion here.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Risso.

@Risso
Assuming my 2004 4.0 is similar, there are 4 O2 sensors, 2 on each side (or bank), 1 "upstream" of the cat converter, 1 "downstream". The upstream sensors are identical, as are the downstream, but differences exist between the front and rear.

I replaced all 4 using Walker Products sensors. Upstream, or front, Part. No. 250-24701. Downstream, or rear, Part No. 250-24001. The pigtail lengths of the new sensors were about double that of the original Ford-supplied; no doubt Walker services other engines with the same parts. I tucked the wiring in suchv a way as to maintain farthest distance possible from exhaust pipe or cat. They are working well. imp

Thanks for that. I'll keep the part numbers in mind if i need to order from your place. (USA)
It is always a little difficult working out the parts on the explorer when dealing with the Australian market.
Time for the next post re: fuel pressure.
