i have been told that to get the best power to the pioneer REV speakers i am going to buy i need to get an external. ok, sounds fairly simple, but then i was told that with the new amp i will no longer be able to use the factory subwoofer....can anyone confirm or deny this? so then that means i would have to buy like a 5 channel amp to run the four speakers and the sub...nothing is ever simple. thanks

You can put a 4ch amp to your pioneers and leave the sub hooked up to the stock head unit but you wont be able to control the bass correctly because increasing or decreasing the bass will affect the whole system. The best thing would be to dissconect the sub and see how you like it. If you need more bass then you will need a new sub/amp combo. If you can spend the $$ now you would be better off. Do you have a budget for the amp your currently looking at?

i posted wrong if my first post...i forgot to put that i'm getting a new HU and thus wouldn't be able to use my factory sub. i have decided i am going to buy the new pioneer head unit, speakers, and buy a two channel amp to power the new ones, use the HU for the rear spearkers, and buy a sub later on down the road. so....any recommendations for just a good, not killin the bank, amp? thanks

Whats your budget for the amp? Here is a real good amp for just under $200 Amp

Or amp 2

Or even cheaper amp3

What front speakers are you considering and will the radio u get have a sub pre out for the future sub amp?

i was originally planning on getting a pioneer, but now i am considering an alpine 9811 or 9813. i've played with both pioneer and alpine at the store and i like the alpine's faster load times and better mp3 searching...when i was looking at the pioneer's i was looking at the REV speakers...but now i'm gonna do more research. maybe some alpine speakers? the thing with the REV's was they were going to require an external amp, but that might change now depending on what speakers i get. anything you can recommend would be helpful. and YES, the HU will have sub preout. if i don't have to buy an external amp for the speakers...that would help save me money. at the same time i know i can get the 9813 for a lil bit more money, and it has 60 x 4 watts instead of 50 x 4 (23 vs 27 RMS power), so it might be worth it. what do you think?
thank you for your time

p.s. for the amp, i really don't want to spend anymoer than $150, i saw the mtx thunder 282 online for 100ish instead of 200 retail
