Heading to the outer banks for vacation and must drive on the sand. Have a 2011 explorer that does have the sand control switch. Trying to find out if we also need to lower the tire pressure to around 20? Manual doesn't say and dealer said they thought we do lower it. BUT then saw a YouTube video and they were driving my exact vehicle and looks like all they did was turn the dial, they didn't mention at all lowering" tire pressure. Any experience is greatly appreciated. Don't want to "break" my new explorer!

Well...

1. Your never going to find into like that in a manual or from a dealer
2. They won't mention it in a video because they want to give you a false impression and laugh when they were that people relied on a simple switch.
3. You should lower the tire pressure and in just doing a quick google search I have seen that 20psi is a good number, but remember, if you do that right before you hit the sand...how are you going to take it back up?

Welcome to the forum! ^^^^ Definitely bring along a air pump when you head out to reinflate the tires when you head back out.
