I just did this and replaced them with quick discos. Take the sway bar link off and put it in a vice. press the bolt back out of bushing. If the vice doesn't work, soften and/or melt the rubber with a torch and then use the vice again.
One word when burning rubber bushings: Ventilation.
Are you talking about endlink bushings, or radius arm bushings? And is this front or rear?
Unless the front endlinks on a 94 are wildly different from those on a 2nd gen, the bushings should just be slipped over the endlink bolt. They shouldn't be that difficult to remove. Rears are a different story.
Done! The vise worked. It was like balljoint changing all over again! Took a long socket and put it behind the link, small socket to push the bushing out.
called in my order today to explorer express not only were they cheaper on their marked prices but they also have a 40% off all first gen stuff in stock.
When I got home I removed the sway bar to have it ready when the parts arrive.evn though they were a ***** to get out they didn't look as bad as yours .
Hopefully thell be here by the weekend along with the remote tran filter from summet
Sir.... do you kid?! I spent $20 a kit. Should've called them up I guess! I haven't replaced the rears yet. I pulled the rear bar off today and pressed everything out. Without a blowtorch it's a little harder to get the stud out. I forced it out with my vise.
i kid you not, check out there home page .they were out of stock on the front and had to drop ship from the manufactur so the discount didn't apply. But they still had the rear set on the shelf. all told I saved about $20 compared to Central 4 Wheeldrive
Yep. That was the first thing done. The clunks didn't start until I put in my coil spacers, but then stopped after my alignment, and came back a couple weeks later. Changed the ball joints, still had a clunk. Alignment, no more clunk.... for a couple weeks.
