My service engine light came on and I went to Advanced Auto and they ran a test and that is what they told me was the problem. None of the workers had any clue as to what that was. So I came home and googled it and this is how I got here.I found a forum about the subject but the last post was 3 yrs old and all were talking about the ABS light which mine used to come on all the time but not for a long while now and my cruise hasn't worked in a long while either. Is all this tied together and would this cause my front end to shake when I excelerate ( 30 mp wobbles like) at 60-70 vibrations and when I brake it kind of shimmies. If I'm not doing this right please bear with me as this is new to me. I love my baby, 04' Explorer XLT and I take care of her and I need her to stay running. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

It would be of more help to know the actual code number, description can vary widely between code readers. Did you happen to write it down?

On a hunch, front end driving issues ( wobbles and such) combined with an abs code points me to the wheel bearings. If yours is 4wd, it will be called a front hub, or, unit bearing.

I moved this thread to the stock 2002-2005 Explorer sub forum.

I just had a new wheel bearing put on the drivers side last yr and he said the other one was fine. And no I didn't get the code. I didn't think to. I t is a 4 wheel drive.

A year ago. A lot of stuff was good a year ago. We're now though.

You are going to have to jack up the front of your vehicle to remove the weight from the tires. Place jack stands to secure it from falling off the jack.
Then, grab the tire(s) at 12 and 6 oclock, pull and push to see if there is any wiggle-side to side play.

Also, please have the codes scanned again, and write them down.

also...as a side check...check inner tie rods......they can cause a barstard of a shimmy.....under acc...under brakes...and vibrations around 100kph (60 mph).
same check procedure as above but grab wheel at 3 and 9 .....
