What would be a reasonable price to change the Emergency brake pads on my 02 X? Any idea?

I had my done last week and it was $150 parts were expensive, i wanna say $90

I had one quote for $260 parts and labor. To much?

i paid a little more for parts alone, $200, did it my self. If you know what your doing, have the right tools, hoist etc, looks like its about an hour or two. . $260 ok.

I am looking at my statement it was 190 total with parts. I live in NC and use a place called preccision tune. $99.90 parts $70 labor rest taxes and "shop supplies"

Hmmm. I did the rear E-brake shoes on my '02 XLT awhile back.

Brake shoes (Monroe Part no BX791) were about $25 from local discount parts place. Hardware kit (springs, adjusters, etc.) was about $20.00.

Definitely need the hardware kit, as the old springs and such were a corroded disaster.

Here's the deal: the job is a royal B*TCH. Getting the rear rotors off to access the Ebrake shoes is tough. Getting the old shoes and springs off wasn't too bad (I just the springs since they were toast).

Getting the new shoes and springs on was a frigging B*TCH. The first one (driver's side) took me something like 2.5 hours and a trip to the store for some locking pliers (needle-nose sorta' vice grips). Also cussing and bloody knuckles on both hands. Not pretty.

Second side was a bit easier, but only 'cause I had the right tool (it was still a B*TCH, even with the new locking pliers -- the space where the main spring connects is narrow and the springs are very strong.)

All told, I bet I spent 4 hours on the ebrake shoes alone. I did rotors and pads at the same time and I bet I spent a total of 2.5 hours on all four wheels on that stuff.

My advice -- pay someone else to do it. Maybe find somewhere you can take your own parts and have them put 'em in -- like a small local shop.

Good luck. Get your grownup words ready if you tackle this one...
