If as Doug said, your Pro-M was not set up properly and you were running open loop, you will hurt performance, no question.
But are plenty of people that have seen H.P. gains.
I adjusted the PCM's programming to make it work with the factory PCM.
I adjusted the transfer function in the PCM to work with the Pro-M meter so it would act normally. When we first connected it it would stay in open loop and the short term wouldn't adjust at all. When I adjusted the low end of the transfer functon by more then 30% it would finally stabilize and go into closed loop and allow for adjustments by the computer, this was all at idle. Now at full throttle we didn't really loose a great amount of power, maybe 1 hp if that but the big deal was we didn't gain any at all. For the $200+price tag that was my biggest concern.
