I am thinking about ordering a Pro Runner Lightbar but they don't make them for my 93 Explorer sport. If I ordered one for a 93 Ranger will it fit with some modifications to the mounts? If so does anyone know of anyone who has done this before? or should I order the universal model? and what are the best lights for offroading?

Smittybilt makes two different styles, I have the cheaper one. They don't specifically make them for the explorer they make them for "mid size trucks", but it fits. If you want a good picture of one on my 92' check out my webpage.

James Duff also makes a pretty killer one, that I am actually planning on buying to replace the one I have.

I tried the smittybilt one that looks the same and it doesn't stick out far enough. Thanks though and do you know about any good off-roading lights to mount on it?

It doesn't stick out far enough? The top of my prerunner has about a foot between itself and my truck? You could always try the other one smittybilt makes that comes with a skid plate, I have seen it on bronco II's and Toyotas and it looks pretty cool.

I have 6" Hellas on mine, but if you want what is in my opinion the "coolest" light, Procomp makes and 8" round 150 Watt light that sells on most truck web sites for about $35-40.

If you want something that really sticks out like the real deal prerunner you will probably have to go custom. I suggest this just because I searched for a long time and the best thing I found was made by James Duff, followed by Smittybilt. Another thing you might want to consider is I don't know how street legal what you want may be.

4Wheelin -
Go with the Duff. Its made for the Explorer, looks great, and the front hoop angles out a good 10-12 inches in front of the truck so that mounted lights get some protection from trail obstacles. The light tabs are standard, and you can mount up to 8" lights either above or below the hoop.

As an added bonus, the bumper is really strong. I've Hi-Lifted off a corner of it without a problem - - wouldn't have wanted to do that with a stock bumper.

Rick's feature of my truck has a pretty decent photo (I'd post a copy of it here, but I lack the computer savvy to do it)

I think the Duff bar is sick and if my ProComp one doesnt fit then I am going to order that one. Do you know how much they cost and do you have to take off the front bumper to mount it instead of just bolting it on like the ProComp?

Thanks

Ryan -

Is it "sick" or "slick" ??

The Duff unit is a complete tube-style bumper, not just the light bar, so you have to remove (permanently) the stock bumper.
The bumper runs about $260 (unpainted).
Realize from your last post that a whole new bumper may not be what you are in the market for...
