I have a 1998 Explorer 5.0 AWD with 130,000 miles. When the trans warms up it seems to hunt up and down between second and third. It does this with the overdrive switched on or off and sometimes it feels as though if I hold the throttle steady the trans will stay in gear until I just slightly release the throttle and then it violently downshifts back to second. If I press on the throttle it will upshift back to third. Could this be a sensor issue? There are no codes showing on the reader. Any help diagnosing this problem will be greatly appreciated!
