problem with high idle, shifting late

ok so i recently bought a 1991 explorer xlt and since the day i bought it it has been idleing at about 1500-2000 rpms, even after it has warmed up. it shifts very late for every gear like at around 3000-4500 rpms while regular drivng. does any know what the problem could be? if u need more info just let me kno
 






check for the vac leaks and also see if the transmission modulator line is good and no fluid in it ....

the vac line for the modulator is the metal line on top of the upper intake with a rubber hose connected to it .

....check all your vac lines they are old and are easily broken .
